The children's play area will soon open after an extensive renovation. The new exhibit will be complete with water play, an aquarium featuring animals from the Indian River Lagoon, animal fort building, a new animal petting zone, and daily programs for children.

As a part of the children's play area, Brevard Zoo opened its first-ever indoor exhibit, a children's play area called the Wildlife Detective Training Academy. The new, 1,800 square foot play area allows children to practice caring for plush patients in a pretend vet lab, and solve animal mysteries involving real animal artifacts throughout the Zoo. In addition, there are about 40 animals on exhibit including mammals, snakes, lizards, tortoises, amphibians, and invertebrates.
